How to Use RecRoot
Follow these steps to go from resume to job offer.
RecRoot is an AI-powered job search platform. Upload your resume, get matched to real live jobs from 5+ sources, then use the built-in tools to apply smarter - cover letters, recruiter emails, gap analysis, and application tracking all in one place.

Create Your Account
Sign up with your name, email, and password. You'll receive a 6-digit code in your inbox - enter it to activate your account.
Fill in your city and phone so your Quick Apply Kit is pre-populated
Already have an account? Just hit Sign In on the home page

Set Your Preferences
A setup wizard opens automatically after your first login. Tell RecRoot what you're looking for so it can filter and rank jobs for you.
Type your target role titles (e.g. "SWE Intern", "ML Engineer") and press Enter after each
Pick your country, remote preference, and work authorization status
Edit anytime via Profile → Career Preferences

Upload Your Resume
Go to the Resume tab and drag and drop your PDF or DOCX file. RecRoot's AI parses it and extracts your skills, education, and experience automatically.
Upload multiple resumes (e.g. one for SWE roles, one for ML roles) - jobs will be matched per resume
Use the "Analyze Against a Job" section to score your resume against any job description

Find Jobs
Go to the Jobs tab and click "Refresh Jobs". RecRoot simultaneously searches AI Dev Board, Remotive, and more - then runs your resume through AI matching to score each result.
This takes 10-30 seconds - you'll see animated placeholder cards while it loads
Filter by type: All · Full-time · Contract · Internship · Co-op
Sort by Best Match or Newest using the dropdown on the right

Open a Job & Review Your Match
Click any job card to open the detail panel. You'll see your AI match score, a breakdown of what you have vs. what's missing, salary info, and an Apply link.
Green chips = skills you already have that the job wants
Yellow chips = skills mentioned in the JD that aren't on your resume
The match % pill on the card is color-coded: green ≥75, yellow ≥50, red below 50

Save Jobs & Track Applications
Click the bookmark icon on any job card to save it instantly. Then go to the Applications tab to manage your pipeline.
Update status per application: Saved → Applied → Assessment → Interview → Offer / Rejected
Filter by status to focus on what needs attention right now

Get Career Suggestions
Go to the Suggestions tab, select your resume, and click Get Suggestions. Claude reads your resume and returns a personalized roadmap.

1. What We Collect
We collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a bcrypt hash) when you create an account. We also store resume text and job descriptions you submit for analysis.
2. How We Use It
- To authenticate your account and send verification codes.
- To generate AI-powered resume analysis using Anthropic's Claude API.
- To display job match scores and career suggestions.
3. Third-Party Services
- Anthropic - AI analysis. Resume and JD text is sent to Anthropic's API. See anthropic.com/privacy.
- Hunter.io - Recruiter email lookup by company domain.
- RapidAPI / JSearch - Job listing data aggregation.
- Resend - Transactional email delivery.
- External resource links - The Suggestions page may surface links to third-party platforms including YouTube, GitHub, Coursera, edX, fast.ai, and official documentation sites. RecRoot does not share any personal data with these platforms. Clicking a link is governed by that platform's own privacy policy. Links open in a new tab with
rel="noopener noreferrer"to prevent referrer leakage.
4. Data Storage
All data is stored in a secured database. Passwords are never stored in plain text. We do not sell your data to third parties.
5. Your Rights
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing hello@recroot.dev. We will fulfill deletion requests within 30 days.
6. Cookies & Local Storage
RecRoot stores your session token in browser local storage to keep you signed in. No tracking cookies are used.
